No More Death, Mourning, Crying, Or Pain (Revelation 21:4)

In Revelation 21:4, no more death, mourning, crying, and pain refer to no more law-based judgments on the new earth.

However, there is death on the new earth.

According to Isaiah 65:20, the person on the new earth who dies at 100 years of age will be thought of as very young.

This helps us understand that death, mourning, crying, and pain in Revelation 21:4 are directly connected to the old covenant law-based judgments.

These judgments are no longer in effect.

They ended in AD 70 when Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed.

There was much death, mourning, crying, and pain with the law-based judgments.

Jesus referred to this in Luke 23:26-30.

"As the soldiers led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus. A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him. Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; WEEP for yourselves and for your children. For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the childless women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ Then

“ ‘they will say to the mountains, “Fall on us!”

and to the hills, “Cover us!” ’

Jesus quotes from Hosea and Isaiah to describe to the mothers in Jerusalem how horrific the conditions would be in AD 70 when the Roman armies besieged Jerusalem (see Luke 19:41-44).

There was much death, mourning, crying, and pain in the cities of Israel and in Jerusalem from AD 66-AD 70 (The Roman-Jewish War).

Mother's were in deep pain as they cried and mourned the deaths of their children, and as they called out for the mountains to fall on them and hills to cover them.

This is recorded in Revelation 6:16.

AD 70 marked the end of the old-covenant era; and, therefore, it marked the end of the old covenant heaven and earth.

The new covenant heaven and new covenant earth is now here.

God is not sending law-based judgments on Israel or the nations.

Therefore, there is no more death, mourning, crying, and paining resulting from judgments.

However, according to Isaiah 65:20, there is death - but not from law-based judgments.
