God's Dwelling Place Is Now Among The People: The New Order of Things - Revelation 21:3

The dwelling place of God among the people of Israel was once in the Most Holy Place of the physical temple in old covenant, law-based Jerusalem.

Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed in AD 70 just as Jesus foretold.

That's the old order of things.

The dwelling place of God is now in the hearts of believers, and together believers form the spiritual temple of God where he lives by his Spirit (Ephesians 2:11-22; 1 Peter 2:4-10).

The hearts of believers have become God's Most Holy Place.

That's the new order of things.

Revelation 21:3

"Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God."

Connect Revelation 21:3, Ephesians 2:11-22, and 1 Peter 2:4-10 and the new heaven and new earth will begin to come into focus.

The new heaven and new earth is the new order of things.

The old order of things was heaven (God) relating to earth (people) through the old covenant of law.

The new order of things is heaven (God) relating to earth (people) through the new covenant of grace.

The new order of things is God dwelling in human hearts of believers not in temples built by human hands.
