I Was Asked About My Views On Israel And The Church

I was recently asked my views on the church and modern-day Israel.

Below is my answer.

“Thanks for asking.

The Bible doesn’t mention “the church.”

The Greek word for church is the Greek word “assembly.”

Jesus was assembling a new spiritual temple with him as the chief cornerstone.

This is what Jesus referred to when he said, “I will build my assembly.”

The assembly of Jesus is the spiritual temple of grace where God lives by his Spirit.

Paul writes about this in Ephesians 2-3.

The Israel of God are those who trusted in Jesus as the Christ.

Those who rejeted Jesus ceased being the Israel of God and were cut off from the nation in judgement.

Those in Israel who believed, along with Gentile believers, became the spiritual temple in the first century that exists today.

In 2 Peter, Peter calls believing Israel a spiritual nation.

Those in Israel who rejected Jesus were judged, and Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed as Jesus foretold.

This occurred from AD 66 to AD 70.

Modern-day Israel is not made up of descendants from Jacob.

They are not of the 12 tribes of Israel.

The nation of Israel is like any other nation.

People who need Jesus.

Thanks for asking.”
