Who Are The Overcomers Of Revelation?
The words overcome, overcomes, and overcame are used in Revelation to describe the deaths of believers leading up to AD 70 who were killed because they did not receive the mark of the beast.
The beast was the Roman Empire, and the mark of the beast meant denying Jesus as the Christ and pledging allegiance to Caesar Nero (666).
Those who denied Jesus and pledged allegiance to Caesar Nero were allowed to participate in the economy of the Roman Empire (buy and sell).
Those who confessed Jesus as the Christ were killed.
Revelation 12:11 describes their deaths...
And they overcame him [Satan working through the Roman Empire and first-century, Christ denying Israel] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
