Following the ascension of Jesus, the only generation who accurately declared the "end times" would come in their lifetime was the first generation of believers leading up to AD 70 when Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed.
One-hundred percent of all the generations after AD 70 have been one-hundred percent wrong.
The end times are stated in the Bible as "the time of the end" or "the end of the age."
The time of the end refers to the time of the end old covenant Israel.
Daniel 12:9
He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and sealed until the time of the end.
The end of the age refers to the end of the age of old covenant Israel.
Matthew 24:3
As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
The coming of Jesus was in judgment of old covenant Israel which would end the age of old covenant Israel.
The time of the end and the end of the age refer to the same event...
...the end of the age of old covenant Israel in AD 70 when the Roman armies left Jerusalem desolate and destroyed the temple.
