Revelation Is The Answer To Prayers Of The First-Century Martyred Believers

In Revelation 6:9-11, the first-century believers are praying for their blood to be avenged on their killers.

Their killers were first-century unbelieving Israel whose power was centered in Jerusalem and the temple.

Stephen was the first believer killed after the ascension of Jesus.

The believers were told to wait a little longer for their prayers to be answered until the fullness of their brothers and sisters were killed.

The Book of Revelation is the answer to their prayers.

In Revelation 8:1-5, the prayers of the murdered saints ascend to heaven and judgment commences.

In Revelation 18:20 and 19:1-2, the avenging of their blood is completed when Jerusalem and the temple are destroyed.

Revelation 18:20 (NKJV)

“Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets, for God has avenged you on her [Jerusalem]!”

Revelation 19:1-2 (NIV)

After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting:

“Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great prostitute [Jerusalem] who corrupted the earth [land of Israel] by her adulteries. He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”

With the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in AD 70 by the Roman armies, the prayers of the first century believers for their blood to be avenged were answered.
