Most Christians Have Not Been Taught About Heavenly Jerusalem

One of the major teachings of Jesus was earthly Jerusalem would be destroyed and left desolate because of its...

...corruption by the leaders of Israel

...rejection of Jesus

...persecution of believers

See Matthew 23-24; Mark 13, Luke 19:41-44; Luke 21; Revelation

The destruction of Jerusalem occurred in AD 70 when it was destroyed and left desolate by the Roman armies as they delivered God's justice.

Most believers in Jesus have never been taught what Jesus said about Jerusalem's destruction and desolation, though it was one of his major teachings.

Additionally, most believers have never been taught about heavenly Jerusalem.

After his ascension, Jesus personally taught Paul about heavenly Jerusalem.

It is ironic Paul was once one of the corrupt leaders in earthly Jerusalem who rejected Jesus and persecuted believers (Acts 7-9).

Yet after Jesus appeared to him on the road to Damascus, Paul became a believer in Jesus and was personally taught by him.

Jesus taught Paul about the heavenly Jerusalem of grace in contrast to the earthly Jerusalem of law - see Galatians 4:21-31 and Hebrews 12:18-24.

Heavenly Jerusalem is about the new covenant of grace established in the blood of Jesus.

Heavenly Jerusalem is about grace that has been freely given to us through the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Heavenly Jerusalem is about faith in Jesus for righteousness and relating to God.

Heavenly Jerusalem is about eternal life in Christ.

Heavenly Jerusalem is about joy.

Earthly Jerusalem is about the old covenant law given at Mount Sinai.

Earthly Jerusalem is about condemnation, judgment, and death.

Earthly Jerusalem is about fear.

Earthly, old covenant Jerusalem was destroyed in AD 70.

Heavenly, new covenant Jerusalem has now come to earth (Revelation 21) and is how God relates to us today.
