Did Hal Lindsey And Others Misunderstand The End Times?
In 1970, Hal Lindsey wrote "The Late Great Planet Earth" concerning the soon-to-come rapture in his time, the great tribulation, and the second coming.
In 1978, Chuck Smith wrote, "End Times: A Report On Future Survival." He also predicted the rapture would be in 1981, starting the final seven years. He predicted the final seven years would end in 1988 with the second coming of Jesus.
In 1982, Billy Graham wrote "Approaching Hoofbeats: The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" about the signs in his life time pointing to the second coming of Jesus.
In 1995, Tim LaHaye wrote the first of his "Left Behind" series concerning the rapture and seven year tribulation.
In 1996, John Hagee wrote "The Beginning of the End." He has now written around 10 books on the same topic.
Recently (2025), David Jeremiah, Jonathan Cahn, Robert Jeffress, Max Lucado and John Hagee have written books on the modern-day signs of the soon-to-come rapture, the great tribulation, and second coming.
Though each of these men seem sincere in their writings, is it possible they misunderstood the Bible?
Is it possible the events they interpreted as being in their near future already occurred?
Is it possible the words of Jesus have already been fulfilled concerning the temple and the city of Jerusalem being destroyed in the generation of those who heard him?
Based on my studies, it is my opinion they misunderstood the Book of Revelation.
What they perceive as in the future, I believe has already been fulfilled.
The rapture, the great tribulation, and the coming of Jesus was in our past.
The hope of the believer in Jesus isn’t his return but our going to be with him in heaven.
Our future is a heavenly one with Jesus and all believers.
