Charlie Kirk, Mark Rubio, and The New Heaven and New Earth

At Charlie Kirk's Celebration of Life, Mark Rubio spoke about the new heaven and the new earth being physical in nature when there will one day be no more mourning, crying, pain, or death (Revelation 21).

For forty years, I viewed the new heaven and the new earth as he did, and as many still do.

Two years ago, my understanding of the new heaven and new earth changed as I studied the Bible more deeply concerning the new heaven and the new earth.

My understanding of the new heaven and the new earth is now:

The new heaven and new earth refer to the new covenant heaven and earth where heaven (God) is no longer pouring out judgment on earth (people and nations) that result in death, mourning, crying, and pain.

During the days of the old covenant law, God (heaven) judged people and nations (earth), resulting in death, mourning, crying, and pain - read Lamentations for an example.

The final old covenant judgment was in AD 70 when God judged old covenant Israel and Jerusalem.

Today, heaven (God) pours out the water of life (the gospel of grace) through the new Jerusalem (the metaphorical, spiritual city of grace consisting of believers in Jesus) to the people and nations (earth).

The water of life is for the spiritual healing of people and the nations (Revelation 22:2).

I know this is not a popular view, but it is a growing view among many people.

Though we may have a different view, we cannot allow our theological differences to divide us.

Discuss them...yes.

Debate them...yes.

Demean each other…no.

Divide us...no.
